Prenatal Appointment- 17 weeks

I had a visit with the doctor today. The baby is doing great. She said it had a great strong heartbeat. I've lost 2 pounds since last month. They drew some blood today to test for Downs syndrome. The results come back in two days. The nurse said I had this test done last time but I don't remember doing it then. So keep your fingers crossed for good results. We go in two weeks to find out the sex!

NAS Oceana Air Show

We all went to the NAS Oceana Air Show this weekend. We left the house around noon and didn't get parked until close to2:45! We spent almost 2 hours on Oceana Blvd. We rode the shuttle from the front of the base to the back. We got there just in time for the last flights of the day. The Blue Angels were awesome! Brian liked watching the jets go over his head. We walked all over the flight line looking at planes and jets. Then it was time to leave. Everyone was leaving at the same time and the line for the shuttle was very very long! So Dean said we would walk.... That would have been ok if i wasn't pregnant and hot and tired. I think it was more like a 3 mile walk. Eventually we made it to the car. We had a blast but I don't think we will go next year. I think the next time we go the kids will be around 8. lol

9 month check-up

Brian had his 9 month check-up. He is 27 1/4 inches and 19.2 pounds. He's gained and inch and 2 pounds. His doctor is very happy with his development and gave us the go-ahead for yogurt. She helped us work out a plan to get rid of the bottle and the pacifier by his first birthday. We now do three meals of table food a day now. No more baby food anymore. He's getting so big! We are thinking about getting his flue shot next month and then we see his doctor again at 12 months!

Our vacation to Smith Mountain Lake

Dean and I went on a weekend vacation this past weekend to Smith Mountain Lake. We had a blast. Our room looked out over the lake. It was really pretty. There isn't much to do in the area except fishing. We went on a chartered fishing trip on Sunday. We did alright. We caught 6 fish total. 3 each. But mine were bigger! I caught an 8 pound and an 11 pound striper and a 19 inch large mouth bass. Brian stayed with his grandma all weekend. I think he had alot of fun.

Binky go Bye-Bye- Day 2

The binky adventure is over... for now. We were pretty good to get rid of it. Me and dean were set and prepared for the melt downs. What we weren't expecting was 4 teeth coming in all at one time! The poor little guy is already going through 4 teeth cutting through that I didn't think now was the time to cut out the binky. We will try again after these teeth come in.

Binky go Bye-Bye- Day 1

We stared taking the pacifier away from Brian. Now that he has teeth, I'd like to get rid of the Binky. The goal is to have it gone by his first birthday. We decided to go cold turkey. The true test came when it was time for the first nap. After some crying and consoling he finally fell asleep without it. He did alight for the rest of the day until he got in trouble. He was playing with the doors on the TV stand, we've been telling him for weeks but it's not getting through to him. So dean picked him up fussed at him and put him somewhere else. Well that was NOT what Brian wanted! He had a major meltdown and cried for a good 45 minutes. I know he just wanted his bink. Eventually he calmed down when I showed him how ridiculous he looked in the mirror. He went to bed alright without his bink which was a big surprise for me! Until about 12:30 at nite after we had all gone to bed. I was so tired i didn't want to fight him back to sleep so we gave in and he got his bink. :( Oh well, we can't all be perfect. Maybe he can have his bink at nite? Oh well. We'll see how it goes today!

Brian's Spider Bite

Brian got his first spider bite on September 2nd. I noticed it at about 10 in the morning and watched it all day to see if it got any bigger. When he woke up in the morning it was bigger than before so I took him to the doctors just to be safe. The doctor said it could be infected since its still swelling and prescribed him an antibiotic and told me to apply some cortizone cream. It is starting to go away, but he has a good size bruise there now.

Couch Cruiser and Self Standing!

Brian is an excellent couch cruiser now! He's been doing it for awhile but now he hauls butt around the furniture. He's also starting to stand on his own. He lets go and can stand for about 20 seconds on a good day. He gets pretty proud of himself when he realizes whats going on. This is a picture of him standing on his own that i took last nite. We've tried for weeks to get a picture but he would always fall before I could take it.
